A Message from the CEO
posted on Sunday, January 15, 2012 Dear Friends, 2011 was another exciting year for HopeHealth and we have much to be thankful for. We expanded our Community Health Center into additional sites at Francis Marion University and on Cherokee Road, bringing four more providers to our HopeHealth Family. Through expanding our practice, we have served 10,000 patients over the year - once again doubling our number of patients served each year since we opened our doors in 2007. It has also been an exciting year for our pharmacy, which began offering free prescription delivery to Florence residents in August. Through various fundraising events throughout the year, we have been able to provide additional services to our patients - services that they would not be able to receive without those funds. We have helped pay for surgeries to cure life-threatening conditions, provided children affected by HIV/AIDS with presents for the holidays, reached out to our communities about the importance of taking charge of one's health, and much more. Each year we reach more and more people. Our patients are coming from all walks of life. Some are professionals, some are not. Some have multiple jobs, some are stay-at-home moms, and some are retired. Some have insurance, some have lost their insurance. But no matter what the patient's lot in life, our philosophy is to provide a warm and friendly environment, with top-notch medical care providers and attractive facilities. Your support has made that dream a reality. But there is much more we can do. There are many more people to reach and serious consequences if we do not. Consider these facts: For Florence County adults: The annual rate of ER visits and hospitalizations is well above the state average for hypertension, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and all cancers. The annual cost of these ER visits is nearly $5 million. The annual cost of these hospitalizations is nearly $200 million. The death rate is well above the state average. HopeHealth is working hard to do our part to close the gap on these statistics. My goal for 2012 is to continue to grow in order to serve the needs of our community. I also want to focus on our current patients. I want to ensure that you continue to receive the best possible customer service at HopeHealth - service that includes ease of access to appointments, shorter wait times, and thorough medical attention. I personally will be paying close attention to customer satisfaction, and I encourage you to contact me if you have any suggestions for how we can improve. Over the next five years, and with your support, we expect to improve the health outcomes of 20,000 people and prevent at least 1,000 hospitalizations - saving hospitals, governments and insurers in excess of $25 million. Thank you for your continued support. Together, we have made a difference in the health of thousands of people and saved many lives. We will continue our work so that anyone who wants a medical home can have one. Sincerely, Carl * This is a printer friendly version of the original page, made to save you ink and paper.
