U.S. Rep. John Spratt, D-S.C., announced Tuesday that HopeHealth,
based at 600 E. Palmetto St., Florence, will receive in $302,815
funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Spratt said the grant can be used for construction, repair and
renovation, purchasing new equipment or health information
technology systems, and/or expanding the use of electronic health
records.
"I am delighted to see these funds coming to HopeHealth," he said
in a press release. "The Recovery Act has gradually begun to bear
fruit, although we still have a long way to go before we return to
where we want to be. It took years for the problem to build, and it
will take time to recover fully. But we are no longer dealing with
as severe a financial and economic crisis as we faced at the
beginning of the year."
HopeHealth is comprised of a Community Health Center, three
HIV/AIDS service sites, a child abuse and neglect center and a
wellness center. Founded in 1991, HopeHealth serves 12: Florence,
Darlington, Marion, Marlboro, Dillon, Chesterfield, Orangeburg,
Calhoun, Bamberg, Aiken, Barnwell and Allendale. For more
