Wine Tasting, Health & Harmony both successes

posted on Sunday, September 26, 2010

HopeHealth recently hosted two events: the Annual Wine Tasting on September 23rd and the first ever Health & Harmony Festival on September 25th.

The Annual Wine Tasting was held for the first time at the residence of Dr. and Mrs. Stephen Imbeau. Event sponsors were Graham Law Firm and Micky Finn's Wine Shop. Corporate Sponsors included Dr. and Mrs. Joe Healy and Long's Drugs; Hillsouth was the napkin sponsor and food was provided by the New York Butcher Shoppe (sponsored by Integrated Healthcare Solutions), Victor's Bistro, Starfire Grille, Top Hat Special-Teas and Hobnob Gourmet (sponsored by Iron Mike's Landscaping.) Guests enjoyed an evening under the stars and were serenaded by piano music. Palmetto Distributing brought wine experts and licensed sommelier Anthony Washington traveled from Augusta National to guide guests through the art of wine tasting. The Fountainhead sponsored a beer tasting table. Funds raised will go toward providing primary and preventive health care for low-income and vulnerable patients in our community.

Two days later, HopeHealth and Heinz presented the Health & Harmony Festival at American Legion Stadium in Florence. Throughout the day, participants enjoyed free admission to a variety of fitness demonstrations, wellness exhibits, live music on multiple stages and healthy food options. The event sponsor was Heinz Foods, which will soon be producing Smart Ones frozen meals in Florence. Stage sponsors included Long's Drugs and Henry Schein. Additional supporting sponsors include Hillsouth, Tibotec, Viiv Healthcare, iH3 Wellness Center, Fitness Forum, Crown Beverage, Pee Dee Foodie and The Flossip.

We had a great turnout at both events and sincerely appreciate the support of our community. Fundraising events such as the Wine Tasting allow us to continue essential services for our patients, while outreach events like Health & Harmony provide important wellness outreach, supporting our mission of improving the well-being of our community.

As we continue through the year, HopeHealth is gearing up for the 2010 AIDSWalk scheduled for December 4, 2010.
