Why Give? Introducing The Hope Fund
posted on Monday, January 17, 2011
The most evident difference between Hope for the Pee Dee during
its founding and HopeHealth in 2011 is its size. In our inception,
our budget was $0, our workers were volunteers, and our clients
needs were starkly apparent. We relied heavily on the generosity of
local companies, community leaders and those touched by our cause
to fulfill these needs.
Now that our annual budget exceeds $13 million, it may be less
obvious that our patients and clients still need the communitys
help. We are fortunate to be able to provide compassionate, quality
health care to our patients, regardless of their ability to pay.
Our grant and earned revenue resources allow us to provide
lifesaving treatment to nearly 1,500 persons living with HIV/AIDS,
serve as a medical home to nearly 5,000 patients in Florence (more
than half of whom have no health insurance), and help those who
cannot afford medications. With what remains, we do our best to
provide for our neediest patients other basic needs. However, the
portion of our budget we can dedicate to these efforts is always
limited.
For this reason, The Hope Fund has been established to fill in
the gaps where grant funding and billing revenue fall short. Our
fundraising events, corporate annual giving, employee giving
program and individual donations support The Hope Fund. Through
this fund, we are then able to provide the following to our
patients:
- Eyeglasses and vision appointments
- Specialty care, surgeries and other medical care we cannot
provide in-house
- Prescription drug grants
- Emergency living expenses (repairs, utility bills, etc.
essential for continuation of care/employment)
Our staff identify patients in need of these services, and we
administer the fund to fulfill these needs. As you plan your giving
for 2011, please consider The Hope Fund. All donations are tax
deductible. Call (843) 656-0372 for more information.
