Alan H. Barrett, PA-c joined HopeHealth's team of highly-qualified providers in June 2011.  Mr. Barrett has been practicing for two years as a Physician Assistant specializing in Family Medicine.  Mr. Barrett received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and philosophy at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee.  He then went on to attend the Citadel College of Graduate Studies to obtain his Master of Arts in psychology, and became a certified Physician Assistant at the Medical University of South Carolina College of Health Professions.  Before coming to HopeHealth, Mr. Barrett was a Mental Health Counselor for five years at Charleston Mental Health. 

Mr. Barrett stated that he chose to work at HopeHealth because it is a "growing and innovative practice," and because "serving all people is at the heart and focus of HopeHealth's mission."  Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Barrett added, "I chose to live in Florence because it is a great city to raise our children."  Mr. Barrett moved to Florence with his wife Cinda, their two children, Hailey and Alexander, and their dog Maya.  In his spare time, he enjoys golf, photography, movies, and family time.  When asked why he decided to go into the medical field, Mr. Barrett responded, "I'm fascinated by the intricacies of the human body and mind.  I love solving puzzles!" 

Mr. Barrett is currently practicing at HopeHealth's office at 600 E. Palmetto Street in Florence, but he will move his practice to HopeHealth's new branch office at 230 Cherokee Road in Florence when it opens on August 1.  Mr. Barrett is accepting patient appointments from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.  Call 843-413-3258 to make an appointment.
