Spring 2011 Message from Board Chairman Ed Love
posted on Monday, April 11, 2011 As we enter into a new fiscal year, it is with great pleasure that I again write to you as the Chairman for the Board of Directors for HopeHealth, Inc. It is a privilege to continue contributing leadership and accountability to the pursuit of our mission: to increase access to comprehensive primary and preventive health care and to improve the health status of underserved and vulnerable populations in our community. Hope accomplishes this mission by providing health care at our three sites: HopeHealth Edisto (Orangeburg), HopeHealth Lower Savannah (Aiken) and our Pee Dee site in Florence. Our Florence location is a Federally Qualified Health Center, providing quality primary health care to people from all walks of life, including myself. Our two remaining sites remain steadfast in the vision of providing services to those infected HIV/AIDS. We serve numerous counties across this fine state, and at all our sites offer unparalleled service to our community with compassion, dignity and quality always at the forefront of our work. As I mentioned when I last wrote in April of 2010, as we move forward, let us not forget our roots and our foundation. This year, we will be losing a long-time board member in Kenny Barnes. Kenny has been an important part of the oversight and operations of HopeHealth for a number of years. He has assured us that his advocacy will long outlive his Board tenure, and for that, Kenny, we are very thankful. Kenny is one of the many people who have been instrumental in shaping and guiding our mission over the past two decades, and as we move forward it is so important to honor and remember where we began. Rarely does a non-profit formed in the living room of a home and set on a shoestring budget survive. HopeHealth has not only survived, but grown and thrived for 20 years. We are blessed to have such a rich history, without which HopeHealth would not be where it is today - serving what we anticipate to be 7,500 patients in 2011. I also would like to welcome the five new members we add to our Board of Directors: Corey Grant, Sonya Graves, Tim Owens, Amber Turner and Cynthia Williams. I thank you for your willingness to serve the patients of HopeHealth and look forward to another year of opportunities to serve our mission. * This is a printer friendly version of the original page, made to save you ink and paper.
