Renee Fitch Smith, Ed. D., MA, LPC Receives a Doctorate of Education in Counseling Psychology Degreeposted on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 Renee Fitch Smith joined HopeHealth in May, 2010 as a behavioral health counselor in Florence, sharing her time between CARE House and HopeHealth. Dr. Smith grew up in Lake City, South Carolina, and attended Coker College where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Counseling and Social Work. Dr. Smith went on to obtain a Master of Arts in Counseling degree from Webster University, and in May 2011 she received a Doctorate of Education in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University Sarasota Florida. In addition to all of her educational accomplishments, Renee is also a licensed professional counselor. Prior to joining HopeHealth, Dr. Smith worked full time in her private practice and provided contract counseling for Sandhills Medical Clinic in Lugoff, South Carolina. She also worked for the S.C. Department of Mental Health in children and family services for nine years in the Sumter and Florence areas. Dr. Smith's favorite part about her job is being able to help others in the healing process. "It's a challenge to get individuals and families to see things from another perspective so they can begin to heal. It's hard work getting there, but when you do it's very rewarding to see someone begin to heal from within," she said. Outside of work, Dr. Smith enjoys kayaking, camping, photography, travel, and spending time with her pets and family. She also enjoys gardening and roughing it in the mountains.
